The Czech Embassy hosted its national day celebration at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel in Jung District, central Seoul, on Monday.

Korean government officials, private sector professionals, diplomatic envoys and their Czech counterparts gathered and commemorated the 106th anniversary of the founding of the Czechoslovakia state.

In his opening remarks, Czech Ambassador Ivan Jancarek said the two countries' bilateral cooperation will expand to the political, economic, science and technology, cultural, sports and tourism fields, noting that President Yoon Suk Yeol’s recent visit to Prague enhanced this relationship.

The ambassador also added that finalizing a nuclear deal between Korea and the Czech Republic will significantly contribute to strengthening his country's energy security and deepening the nuclear alliance between the two nations.

“Czechia is ready to invest in nurturing and developing the bilateral strategic partnership,” Jancarek said.

In later congratulatory remarks, Korea's Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Duk-geun said that being invited to the event as a guest of honor “reflects the ever-deepening relationship” between the Czech Republic and Korea.

Ahn said the event is a “testament to the successful cooperation of the two countries’ key initiatives, such as the nuclear power plant project.”

The Czech Republic and Korea will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year.
