Hyundai Motor and three other carmakers will voluntarily recall nearly 190,000 vehicles due to faulty components, the transport ministry said Thursday.
The four companies, including Mercedes-Benz Korea, BMW Korea and Ford Sales & Service Korea, are recalling a combined 189,797 units of 33 different models, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said.
Problems that prompted the recall include insufficient durability in the hydraulic electronic control unit in 117,569 Hyundai Motor vehicles across four different models, including the Grand Starex model.
Mercedes-Benz Korea is recalling 5,706 units of five models, including the Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4MATIC+, due to the risk of fire stemming from a design flaw in the transmission wiring connector.
BMW Korea is addressing issues in 2,450 units of 14 models, including the 530i xDRIVE, due to insufficient durability in the universal joint part. Ford is implementing corrective measures on 1,219 units of the Lincoln Nautilus due to an error in the vehicle's door control software.
