Paris Croissant CEO attends banquet with French president for SIAL anniversary

Paris Croissant CEO Hur Jin-soo met with France's president, Emmanuel Macron, at the Élysée Palace in Paris during a dinner hosted by the president.
 
SPC Group said Wednesday that the banquet, hosted in celebration of SIAL Paris’ 60th anniversary, saw the attendance of 40 food and retail entrepreneurs from around the world, who converged on the presidential palace on Monday. Participants included members from France’s dairy companies, Savencia Fromage & Dairy and Eurial, agricultural cooperative company Limagrain, the Netherlands’ retail store company Spar and Japan’s trading firm Marubeni.

SPC Group was the only Korean company invited to the dinner. The bakery mogul was invited for its contribution to food culture exchange and the country's economy, according to the company.
 
“President Macron thanked SPC Group for spreading France’s excellent ingredients and food culture to Korea and around the world,” the company said in a press release, adding that the French president also appreciated its consistent investment and exchange in France.
 
Paris Baguette entered the French market in 2014 with a store in Paris, 26 years after the bakery franchise first started in Korea. There are currently six Paris Baguette branches in France and 600 total stores outside Korea.
 
“We plan to receive quality ingredients from good companies around the world to improve the quality of our products and seek further cooperation opportunities for Paris Baguette’s overseas businesses,” SPC Group said.
