Global food price index climbs on back of 8 percent hike for cooking oil

The global food price index tallied by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization increased to 118.3, up 1.1 percent in March compared to a month prior. This marks the first upward turn in food prices in eight months.

The prices of oils and fats drove up the figure with an on-month hike of 8 percent.
