Yi Jae-gyeong and Woo Ha-ram took silver in the men’s synchronized 3-meter springboard final at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Saturday, winning Korea’s first medal in diving at this year's Asiad.

The final took place at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Aquatic Sports Arena in Hangzhou, China and Yi and Woo scored 393 points total, falling behind gold medalists Yan Siyu and He Chao of China with 422.55.

In the men’s synchronized 3-meter springboard, divers receive points for each of the total six dives they complete.

The Korean duo first scored 51 points in inward somersault, earned 49.80 in back somersault, 72.54 in forward somersaults, 79.56 in forward somersaults twists, 73.50 in reverse somersaults and 66.60 in inward somersaults.

The silver raised Woo’s Asiad medal count to nine. He won two silver and two bronze medals in the 2018 Asian Games and secured one silver and three bronze in 2014.

Korea won five medals in diving in 2018, largely thanks to Woo.

For Yi, it was his first-ever Asiad medal.

The diving schedule will continue through Wednesday next week.
