Sejong presidential office design picked

Korea revealed the winning Sejong presidential office plan after delays over concerns that the original concept lacked national symbolism.

The winning design for a new presidential office in Sejong, Korea's administrative capital, created by a consortium of architecture firms Haean, Tomoon and Unsangdong was revealed by the National Agency for Administrative City Construction on July 22. Its announcement, originally due in April, was delayed amid criticism from architects and President Lee Jae Myung, who said the design lacked symbolism befitting the nation. Design work is expected to be completed in 2027, with construction starting the same year and move-in targeted for August 2029.
