The underground inspection began on Thursday night after the Ministry of Employment and Labor approved the city government's plan to resume demolishing the Seosomun Overpass in Seodaemun District, western Seoul, which partially collapsed on Tuesday, killing three people and injuring three others.
The Seoul Metro cut operations between Hongik University Station and Euljiro 1-ga Station on Line No. 2 an hour earlier than usual the previous night for inspection, then resumed normal service at 5:51 a.m. on Friday.
A Seoul Metro official said that the inspection was necessary to check the integrity of underground structures and apologized for the inconvenience to the public.
