The prosecution requested a life sentence Friday for a woman and her accomplice charged with murdering the woman's husband to get a life insurance payout.

At a court hearing at Incheon District Court on Friday, prosecutors requested a life sentence for Lee Eun-hae, 31, and Cho Hyeon-soo, 30, who allegedly killed Lee’s 39-year-old husband in June 2019 by drowning him in a stream in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi, in order to receive a life insurance payout worth 800 million won ($559,500).

The pair evaded the authorities for three months until they were arrested in Goyang, Gyeonggi, on April 16, 17 days after a wanted notice was put out by the police.
