A man who impersonated a police officer during a KBO baseball game in Songpa District, southern Seoul, has been indicted and is standing trial in custody, according to legal officials on Thursday.

He was arrested at the scene, at the Jamsil Baseball Stadium, on charges of donning a badge marked with the word "Police" along with a police baton light and a walkie-talkie during a KBO League game between the Doosan Bears and Samsung Lions on July 25.

He reportedly told police during questioning that he wore the gear because he remembered wanting to be a police officer as a child.

Police requested a detention warrant for the man, which the court issued on July 27, and the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office indicted the man without physical release on Aug. 12 on charges of violating the Police Uniforms and Equipment Regulation Act.
