Man arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting woman in Suwon

A man was arrested early on Monday after allegedly sexually assaulting a foreign woman whom he had never met on a street in Suwon, Gyeonggi.

The suspect was arrested on charges of causing injury through an act of imitative rape, a type of sexual assault not involving intercourse, the Suwon Paldal Police Precinct said the same day.

The suspect reportedly pushed the victim to the ground before sexually assaulting her on a street in Paldal District at around 2:10 a.m. 

Police arrested him at the scene after responding to a witness’s report.

“I could not remember the incident because I was intoxicated,” the suspect reportedly told investigators during questioning.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the case, including whether the man committed rape.

“The charges could change depending on the outcome of the investigation,” a police official said.
