President Lee Jae Myung will hold a press conference at Blue House later this week, a presidential official said Tuesday.

The presser on Friday will begin at 10 a.m., is expected to run for 90 minutes and will not be limited to any topic, Blue House spokesperson Seong Ghi-hong told reporters.

It will be Lee's first press conference in around three months after his sixth in June, which marked the first anniversary of his inauguration. It is also set to take place at a politically critical moment, as his approval rating continues to hover in the 40-something range.

"The upcoming press conference will deliver messages to unite the Korean public, reaffirm presidential commitment to reform and underscore governance principles that prioritize public livelihood," Seong said. "[The president] will explain his stance and direction about ongoing issues."

The upcoming presser will be convened under two overarching themes: politics and diplomacy; policy and economy.

Lee is expected to address issues ranging from the potential deployment of troops to the Strait of Hormuz to controversial Cabinet nominations if asked by reporters.

Seong also said the presser will feature real-time comments from the Korean public.
