Korea and the Netherlands have upgraded a memorandum of understanding on bilateral agriculture cooperation for the first time in 13 years, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said Thursday.

The revised MOU was signed between Agriculture Minister Song Mi-ryung and her Dutch counterpart, Silvio Erkens, during their meeting in Seoul, according to the Agriculture Ministry.

The ministry said the European nation is a global power in agriculture exports and technologies, noting that the ministers explored deeper cooperation in smart farming and the AI transformation of the farming industry.

They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in food security and sustainable farming, it added.
