Dong-A University is introducing a new culinary and food business major exclusively for international students, with four chefs, including contestants from Netflix’s “Culinary Class Wars” (2024–), appointed as adjunct professors ahead of its launch in March.

The four-year private university in Busan said Friday that the new faculty members include Lee Mi-yeong, known as “Master of School Meals” on the cooking competition show, and Park Ji-young, who appeared as “Kitchen Gangster.”

Lee will teach Korean cuisine and large-scale cooking, while Park will teach modern European cuisine, desserts and wine.

Jeong Yong-jae, executive chef of the Chinese restaurant Chaoran at Signiel Busan, will teach high-end Chinese cuisine.

Park Ki-seop, owner-chef of Sogonggan, will teach Korean fine-dining techniques.

To support the new major, the university said it has established practice facilities for Korean, Western, Chinese and Japanese cuisine, as well as baking and desserts. It has also set up dedicated storage facilities for fermentation and aging.

All classes in the new major will be conducted in Korean. The first round of admissions closed Wednesday, and the second round is set to open in December.

The university plans to collaborate with the World Institute of Kimchi, the Institute of Traditional Korean Food and local food companies to train international talent who can help promote Korean cuisine globally.
