About 200 passengers were evacuated from a train at Guro Station on Seoul Subway Line 1 around 5:24 p.m. Friday after a power bank carried by a passenger began emitting smoke.
A small amount of smoke rose from the power bank in the pocket of a passenger in car No. 4 of an Incheon-to-Dongducheon train, the Korea Railroad Corporation said.
The passenger put out the fire and reported it to a station attendant. Guro Station staff checked the scene and moved all passengers onto the next train, which arrived about seven minutes later.
The affected train was taken to a depot.
No injuries were reported, and train service was not significantly disrupted.
