Rock band Xdinary Heroes will return with its ninth EP, “Impulse,” on Monday, built around desire and the conflicting emotions of youth.

The seven-track EP, featuring lead track “Obsessed with Youth,” is the band’s first release since drummer Gunil left in August and the first since “Dead And” dropped in April.

The members wanted to express the different feelings people have, with the keyword being “desire.”

“Whether an emotion is positive or negative, we wanted to convey the message that people should accept it and not deny their own feelings,” the members said in a press release on Monday.

The lead track “Obsessed with Youth” is about the thrill and instability of youth, according to the band’s agency JYP Entertainment. The band members described it as a song filled with “complex feelings.”

The five members were also involved in the production of the lead track, “Slashhh!,” “u and me in arguments,” “You Right There,” “Love in dystopia” and “Breathe in, Breathe out.”

“When we came up with the line ‘you right there,’ I was sure that we’d done it,” member Jungsu said. “I was so relieved that we had finally finished the theme that becomes the core of the song.”

Songs on the album range from acoustic arrangements to heavy rock.

“‘Breathe in, Breathe out’ started as a really grand song, but it was reworked to have acoustic arrangements, which gave it a more delicate color,” O.de said.

“u and me in Arguments,” on the contrary, is a heavy rock track featuring “explosive band sounds,” according to Gaon.

“It’s a type of style that I particularly like, so I’m really curious to see how our fans would enjoy it.”

Xdinary Heroes debuted in December 2021 and is known for tracks such as “Happy Death Day” (2021), “Hello, World!” (2022), “Deadlock” (2023), “FiRE (My Sweet Misery)” (2025) and “X room.”
