Local production studio SLL has secured a licensing deal with Mexican-U.S. media company TelevisaUnivision to air its 2018 hit rom-com series "My ID Is Gangnam Beauty" with Spanish dubbing, it announced Wednesday.

The series is set to premiere on Mexico's Canal 5, a free-to-air network, in August.

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, "My ID Is Gangnam Beauty" is about a young woman who undergoes plastic surgery after enduring years of bullying over her appearance. As she begins university, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery while confronting society's beauty standards, navigating new relationships, and learning to embrace her true self.

The recent deal is part of SLL's efforts to increase its footprint across Latin America, where demand for Korean content is growing.

"By bringing 'My ID Is Gangnam Beauty' to Canal 5, SLL aims to reach an even broader audience and further reinforce the global appeal of its premium drama portfolio," it said through a press release.

SLL, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, is a content production and distribution company with more than 11 production labels. Its credits include "Reborn Rich" (2022), "The Summer I Turned Pretty" (2022), "Doctor Cha" (2023), "King the Land" (2023), "Culinary Class Wars" (2024), "The Roundup" film series (2017, 2022, 2023, 2024), and "The Art of Sarah."
