Indie band wave to earth will release a new album, “bad pieces,” on Aug. 7, its agency WAVY announced on Thursday.

This will mark wave to earth's first studio album release since “play with earth! 0.03” in 2024. The band prereleased “heaven and hell” — a track that will feature on the upcoming album — last month.

The album title is inspired by the “bed-in” antiwar protest led by John Lennon and Yoko Ono in 1969 in response to the Vietnam War, according to WAVY.

wave to earth comprises Kim Daniel on vocals and guitar, Shin Dong-gyu on drums and Cha Soon-jong on bass. Kim and Shin formed the band in 2018, when they played together in a high school worship band, and later brought in Cha.

It debuted in 2019 with its first EP, “wave,” and has since released hits such as “seasons” (2020), “bad” (2023) and “love.” (2023).

The band gained popularity overseas for its mellow, dreamy beats and its contrastingly energetic concerts, which are full of improvisations. The trio composes its own music, with lyrics mostly written in English, and its discography comprises a wide range of genres.

wave to earth's monthly listeners on Spotify surpass 7 million, and its most popular song, “seasons,” has accumulated 500 million streams, according to its agency.

After the August album release, the band will kick off “the pieces” world tour in September.
