Former girl group Le Sserafim member Kim Ga-ram, who exited the group after claims that she had bullied her peers in middle school surfaced, will return to the public eye as an actor, her new agency, Management Koo, announced in a statement on Tuesday.

In the same statement, the agency added that it had signed an exclusive contract with Kim.

“We have closely followed Kim’s YouTube activities and were deeply impressed by both her potential as an actor and her strong work ethic,” it explained. “Her determination to work hard and improve every day for her dream was a key factor in our decision to sign an exclusive contract with her.”

Management Koo also shared that Kim has been taking acting lessons and has shown great progress in a short period of time while also studying other subjects.

“In addition to acting, she has consistently devoted her time to learning English and Japanese and has even taught herself to play the guitar, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to taking on new challenges and expanding her skills,” it said.

“We highly admire Kim’s effort […] to achieve her dream of becoming an actor, as well as to work to improve herself,” the agency added, promising to support her career.

Kim debuted as a member of Le Sserafim on May 2, 2022, but went on hiatus on May 20, just 18 days after her debut, following the bullying allegations.

She officially left the group in July, two months after making her debut as a singer.

Since then, she had kept a low profile until March, when she launched her own YouTube channel, garamonly.
