Three months after leaving boy band Enhypen, Evan — better known by his former stage name Heeseung — is debuting again as a solo artist with his single "Ride or Die" on Monday.

Evan left Enhypen in March to pursue his own music, but stayed in his agency, Belift Lab.

He wrote, composed and produced both songs on the debut single, which has an alternative rock title track against "Overflow," a quieter indie-pop song.

"I hope a lot of people find hope and comfort," Evan said in a press release. "Just as the music of the artists I loved once did for me, I'd be happy if my music became, for someone, not just hope but a reason to live."

Evan said that watching clips of rock bands performing on his social media feed inspired him to write "Ride or Die."

"I began with the thought that I too want to do music like that," he said.

Overflow, on the other hand, contrasts with the title track as a song in the ballad genre.

"I wanted to unrangle the complex emotions I had at the time of working on the song," he said.

"I wanted the two songs to give opposite impressions," Evan said. "In a way, they're the genre I want to do and the genre I'm good at. I think that alternative quality is my identity."

Evan will host "The Fillin' Live with Evan," a busking performance at the Yeouido Han River Park in western Seoul on Friday. He is scheduled to perform at the Busan One Asia Festival on Sunday and will make his first solo appearance in North America at KCON LA on Aug. 16.

"I think everyone's life is a process of finding their own true self," Evan said. "And as I keep making music, I think I'll find the version of myself that's most true to me."
