Singer Crush credited IU for bringing his new digital single “Seesaw (feat. IU)” to life, saying the song might never have been released without her involvement.
"While working on the song, I felt that IU was the only artist whose voice would truly suit it, so I reached out to her,” Crush said in a Q. and A. released by his agency P Nation. “I was thrilled when she gladly agreed.”
"To be honest, this song might never have seen light without IU. We spent a lot of time discussing the song and sharing ideas, and I'm truly grateful that the final result turned out even better than I had imagined."
The digital single, set for release at 6 p.m. Wednesday, marks Crush's first new music under his own name in about a year and two months, since the release of his EP "Fang" in August last year. He previously released the duet “Yin and Yang” with rapper Zico earlier this year.
Crush described "Seesaw (feat. IU)" as the result of a long period of careful work and dedication.
"The song captures the little misunderstandings and differences that arise between two people in love in a cute and witty way,” Crush said. “Love isn't always beautiful or perfect, and I wanted to portray those awkward, realistic moments."
He also expressed hope that the track would resonate with listeners and remain part of their everyday lives for years to come.
“I've spent the past few years experimenting with different musical styles and reflecting on my work," he said. "The longer I make music, the more challenging it can feel at times, but it also makes me ask myself what kind of music I can share with the greatest confidence.”
"'Seesaw (feat. IU)' was born out of that period of exploration and reflection. […] I hope this song stays with listeners for a long time and becomes part of their everyday lives."

Both Crush and IU also appear in the song's music video, which gave Crush an opportunity to witness IU's acting skills firsthand. He explained that IU plays a character who symbolizes the sadness deep within him.
"First of all, I realized why IU is considered such a great actor," he said. "I saw how carefully she thought through not only her character's emotions but also the overall flow of the music video and every little detail of each scene.
"I was particularly impressed by her focus and dedication during filming. Watching her up close, I felt there was so much I could learn from her."
Looking back on 14 years in music since his 2012 debut, Crush admitted that he still can’t believe how fast time has passed.
"I've received far more love than I ever dreamed of when I first started making music, and I've met so many people along the way,” Crush said. “My fans, in particular, are not only the people who love my music but also the driving force that keeps me making it.”
"Rather than being known by grand titles, I want to be a musician who leaves behind songs that hold meaning in someone's life,” he continued. “If my songs come to someone's mind on a happy day, a lonely day or even many years from now, I couldn't ask for anything more."
