Entertainment powerhouse CJ ENM signed a strategic partnership with Prime Video India in Mumbai to expand the reach of K-content, the Korean company said Tuesday.

Under the agreement, signed on Monday, CJ ENM will release more than 100 shows and series, including 26 new titles, on Prime Video India over the next two years.

The partnership was carried out to respond to the rapidly growing demand for K-drama in India and to make CJ ENM’s content more accessible to local audiences.

To enhance the viewing experience, CJ ENM plans to offer English subtitles along with Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbing for future releases to reduce language barriers.

The collaboration will kick off with the release of the third season of “Yumi's Cells” (2021–) following K-dramas like “Filing for Love” and “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier,” according to CJ ENM. Upcoming tvN series “My Bias, My Boss,” set to debut on Aug. 3 in Korea, will also come to Prime Video India later.

The partnership is part of CJ ENM’s broader global expansion strategy. The Korean entertainment company sealed a global strategic partnership with Prime Video to expand its overseas distribution last year.

“Building on our strong global relationship with CJ ENM and the deal announced last year, we're excited to deepen this collaboration with a sharper focus on India,” said Shilangi Mukherji, director and head of SVOD business at Prime Video India. “The popularity of Korean content has been remarkable across our Prime Video markets.”

“By bringing a curated slate of premium Korean titles to Prime Video, we’re doubling down on our commitment to making the most innovative and captivating stories from Korea accessible to audiences in India,” Mukherji added.

CJ ENM also underscored its commitment to expanding its presence in the Indian market.

“This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding the global reach of Korean storytelling,” said Seo Jang-ho, EVP of Platform Division at CJ ENM. “We look forward to connecting more deeply with Indian audiences and sharing the richness and emotional depth of K-dramas with viewers across the region.”
