CGV to run 3-day special screening of 'KPop Demon Hunters' 

CGV will screen Netflix hit 'KPop Demon Hunters' at 30 theaters for three days, with sing-along shows at six locations and special giveaways to mark the film’s first anniversary.

CGV will bring Netflix hit "KPop Demon Hunters" (2025) to its screens for three days starting Friday, with sing-along showings to mark the one-year anniversary of the film's release, the movie chain announced Tuesday.

The film will be screened at 30 CGV locations nationwide through Sunday. Moviegoers can choose between a Korean-dubbed version and the original English-language version with Korean subtitles.

Sing-along screenings are available at the movie chain branches at I'Park Mall in Yongsan District, central Seoul;  Times Square mall in Yeongdeungpo District, western Seoul; and Wangsimni in Seongdong District in eastern Seoul, as well as Cheonan Pentaport in South Chungcheong, Asiad in Busan and Dongtan in Gyeonggi.

The cinema chain will hand out Anua’s Rumi-inspired facial masks as a special giveaway on a first-come, first-served basis. Rumi is a key female protagonist and a member of fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X in the film.

"We have prepared a screening to offer a special movie-watching experience at theaters for those who loved the 'KPop Demon Hunters,'" said Jang Ji-yeon, the head of content operations at CJ CGV. "We hope moviegoers enjoy the film’s spectacle on the big screen with amplified sound through dubbed and subtitled screenings, as well as sing-along showings."

Directed by Korean Canadian director Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, "KPop Demon Hunters" centers on HUNTR/X, who secretly hunts demons to protect the world while facing off against a rival demon boy band Saja Boys. It was first unveiled on Netflix in June 2025. 

"KPop Demon Hunters" won the Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the 98th Academy Awards in March and claimed the Golden Globe award for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song in January. It became the most-watched film on Netflix with its streaming counts of 482 million in the second half of last year, according to the streaming platform.
