Samsung Electronics said Thursday it held a meeting with global telecommunications industry partners to discuss the future of next-generation networks.

The meeting, dubbed the Silicon Valley Future Wireless Summit 2026, was held in Silicon Valley on Thursday, bringing together about 100 telecommunications experts from major mobile carriers, equipment manufacturers, government agencies and academia.

Participants discussed software-based network strategies and ecosystem-wide cooperation to address changes in the telecommunications industry driven by AI.

Samsung said AI is transforming not only applications and services but also infrastructure, prompting a fundamental restructuring of telecommunications networks that have evolved over more than a century.

The company emphasized that next-generation networks combining AI and virtualization will be a key driver of new forms of communication, overcoming the limitations of existing systems.

"Samsung Electronics will build on its successful large-scale commercialization of virtualized networks and incorporate its advanced AI technologies to transform telecommunications infrastructure into a new engine of growth," said Park Jeong-ho, vice president and head of strategy marketing for Samsung's networks business.
