President expected to meet with Samsung chief to discuss the country’s ‘three megaprojects’

The meeting would come days after Lee Jae Myung met with SK Group’s chairman, with talks with Hyundai Motor Group's chair likely as well.

President Lee Jae Myung is likely to meet with Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong this week to possibly discuss the country's "three megaprojects" centered on semiconductors and AI, sources said Monday.

The meeting would come days after President Lee met with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won. Lee is also likely to have a meeting with Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung this week, the sources said.

The talks came amid speculation the United States is demanding Korean investment in its semiconductor industry as part of Seoul's investment commitment to the country, although Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan said earlier that no related talks had been held with Washington.
