Mirae Asset Securities Hong Kong unveiled its global investment platform — Mirae Asset Portfolio Service (MAPS) — last week, the company said on Monday.

MAPS is designed to help investors trade conventional assets and digital assets on a unified digital platform by integrating previously separate mobile trading platforms per country.

Mirae Asset aims to enhance retail investors’ accessibility — largely confined to their home markets — to global markets and diversify investment experiences by expanding MAPS worldwide. The United States, Korea, China and Singapore are expected to be the next markets where the service will be available.

Mirae Asset also aims to attract foreign retail investors to invest in Korea’s domestic stocks through the MAPS platform.

Mirae Asset, a Korea-based financial firm, operates its business in 11 nations worldwide. It entered Hong Kong market in 1994.

The firm chose Hong Kong as a launch site for MAPS because it is a market pioneering in digital asset policy-making and serving as an Asian financial hub. In April, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission approved a digital asset trading license for the Hong Kong branch, which enabled the firm to offer its services to retail investors in Hong Kong.

“MAPS is the [firm’s] first global investment that embodies Mirae Asset’s 3.0 vision at its touchpoint with customers,” a representative from Mirae Asset said. The Mirae Asset's 3.0 vision reportedly centers on global business, AI and digital assets.

“By combining traditional financial assets, digital assets and AI-based investment services, we will let investors experience broadened experiences in a single platform.”

The launching ceremony held in Hong Kong last Friday was attended by founder and Global Strategy Officer Park Hyeon-joo and Hong Kong branch CEO Seong Jun-yeop.
