Hana Financial Group said on Wednesday that it has signed a partnership with the Small Enterprise and Market Service to support young self-employed entrepreneurs in establishing and stabilizing businesses, with the broader goal of revitalizing local commercial districts.

Under the partnership, Hana plans to invest 5 billion won ($3.3 million) through 2029 to select, nurture and train young self-employed entrepreneurs. Participants will learn about digital capabilities, customer management, data usage, business operations and strategies to boost sales. They will also receive support for their promotional activities, including content production and the development of local commercial district branding.

The initiative also includes a program through which young small-business owners can form teams to plan and execute joint projects.

The program aims to support 4,000 business operators across 60 commercial districts.

“The latest initiative aims to revitalize local commercial districts by fostering young self-employed entrepreneurs and building sustainable communities led by young small-business owners,” said Ham Young-joo, the chairman of Hana Financial Group, in a statement, describing the younger generation as “the roots of the local economy and the backbone supporting the livelihoods of ordinary people.”
