Hana Financial Group launches support program for military personnel

Hana Financial Group and the Defense Ministry will provide 1 billion won a year in welfare support for 300 service members and their families.

Hana Financial Group signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of National Defense, launching the Hero with Hana program to support military personnel and their families.

The MOU signing ceremony was held with Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo and National Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back on Monday.

Created through the MOU, the Hero with Hana program will annually offer welfare benefits and support worth 1 billion won ($660,000) to around 300 military personnel and their family members.

"June is the patriots and veterans month, and it is meaningful for us to join hands with the National Defense Ministry to provide support that can boost morale and improve welfare for military personnel and their families," said Chairman Ham. "We will try to fulfill our social responsibility and become a reliable source of support for the military personnel and their families."

The program includes support for 200 military personnel with children or parents with disabilities, covering costs for rehabilitation and psychological counseling, medical expenses and assistive devices.

Another 60 military personnel who are stationed in remote areas, have been injured in the line of duty or the families of those who died on duty will receive support to improve their children's learning environments. The program will offer furniture such as desks, as well as support to purchase digital devices including laptops, tablets and desktop computers.

Another 40 military personnel who were injured in the line of duty will receive support for rehabilitation and psychological treatment, customized prosthetics and assistive equipment.
