After the prosecution raised suspicion over Jeong Jin-sang, vice chief of staff to Democratic Party Chair Lee Jae-myung, who allegedly received 42.8 billion won ($31 million) from a major stakeholder in the controversial Daejang-dong development project to help Lee win the DP primary for the Mar. 9 presidential election, Lee called it a “preposterous fiction,” but Jeong compared the money to an asset “preserved in a reservoir.” Prosecutors call them “a political community.” [PARK YONG-SEOK]
