Hyomin, left, said that she is no longer in a relationship with professional football player Hwang Ui-jo, in a statement Tuesday.

Girl group T-ara member Hyomin on Tuesday opened up about her past relationship with professional football player Hwang Ui-jo.

Hyomin said that she and Hwang were in a relationship in January but split after rumors of the two's relationship arose. "The situation became too burdensome," said Hyomin in a statement.

Her response had been delayed because neither she nor Hwang had agencies that could make statements to the press at the time.

Rumors about Hyomin and Hwang being a couple first surfaced after reports that the two had taken a trip to Switzerland together.

Hyomin debuted in 2009 as a member of girl group T-ara. The 33-year-old made her solo debut in 2014 with an EP titled "Make Up."

Hwang, 29, plays for the Ligue 1 club Bordeaux as well as the national team.
